Sending Text Messages

BBM does recognize this image as QR Code but not able to associate it as a SMS Text – Phone Number and associated application while I was testing it.

Other alternatives to BBM 5.0 as QR Code reader

Well, actually BlackBerry Messenger is IM client not QR Code reader as such and to use it as QR Code reader, you have to go to BBM, press Menu, select add contact and select scan invitation bar code # 4 clicks to get there, which is not convenient. Let’s hope in released version of BBM, there is a way to get shortcut icon on home screen for that.

NeoReader

NeoReader is a mobile application that turns a camera mobile phone into a code scanner and provides one-click access to mobile content on the go, anytime and anywhere. Neo Reader does recognize all QR codes and associated mobile apps because it is Code Reader. The last SMS QR code was recognized correctly by NeoReader. NeoReader can read lot many other codes like to purchase product, map location, ad promotion, product information etc etc.. the way QR code technology is designed and works.

Summary

The above post summarize how the integrated excellent QR code reader in leaked BlackBerry Messenger 5.0 can do to make lot many things convenient and easy. The best part in BBM is the way camera auto focuses the QR code, detects it and if the code is not proper displays the error message. You do not have to click the QR code and wait for it to detect. The other features are actually the QR code technology itself which is very promising and will revolutionize many many things in days to come.

The BBM QR reader will also respond to a mailto:email@domain.com message by opening a new blank email addressed to the embedded address.

    Tried it on a hunch.

The neoreader crashes quite a lot and private data is needed. Check out the Beetagg QR Reader at http://www.beetagg.com

It’s much faster and more robust.

I’m new to this QR CODE and I see alot of value in it. I created a PHP QR CODE gen, right now my BB can only process URLs how can I get it to scan PHONE NUMBERS, what text / tags is the phone number wrapped with so that the BB can scan and process it?

I think you’ll have to search for QR code secs or how they’re generated irrespective of it’s for BlackBerry or other mobile devices. I do not have much knowledge about the QR code technology as such.

Designing apps for Android can be a daunting task, specifically for the newbie Android developers.
This approach of sending course material through
enterprise apps offers a whole bunch of benefits as compared to
old-fashioned methods. Around 50 percent employees want this feature and this
percentage is expected to grow to 75 percent in next three years.
