Other alternatives to BBM 5.0 as QR Code reader
Well, actually BlackBerry Messenger is IM client not QR Code reader as such and to use it as QR Code reader, you have to go to BBM, press Menu, select add contact and select scan invitation bar code # 4 clicks to get there, which is not convenient. Let’s hope in released version of BBM, there is a way to get shortcut icon on home screen for that.
NeoReader
NeoReader is a mobile application that turns a camera mobile phone into a code scanner and provides one-click access to mobile content on the go, anytime and anywhere. Neo Reader does recognize all QR codes and associated mobile apps because it is Code Reader. The last SMS QR code was recognized correctly by NeoReader. NeoReader can read lot many other codes like to purchase product, map location, ad promotion, product information etc etc.. the way QR code technology is designed and works.

The best part in BBM is the way camera auto focuses the QR code, detects it and if the code is not proper displays the error message. You do not have to click the QR code and wait for it to detect. The other features are actually the QR code technology itself which is very promising and will revolutionize many many things in days to come.
